Message from Hubert Chanson – The University of Queensland

May 14, 2009 by Darren

I study tidal bores as part of my research interests, and I am looking for some photographs of the Tidal bore at River Parrett at Bridgwater in Somerset. The photographs would be used to illustrate my teaching and research in hydraulic engineering, and the source of the photograph(s) will be clearly acknowledged.
I am looking for some old or recent photographs, B&W or colour, of the tidal bore. Any further info on the tidal bore would also be very welcome.

I thank you in advance.
Regards

  1. Dear Hubert,

Thank you for your enquiry. It’s a good question … the tidal bore is something quite special and interesting.
We have a little about it in River and Shipping>Docks:

I found this on wikipedia which might help:

If I get some photos I will be happy to pass them on to you.

    Regards
